Jason, The Dharma Bums

As you may have noticed, I’m on something of Jason kick right now. I’m also preparing to interview Paul Buckley, Creative Director at Penguin US, about his new book Penguin 75, so I thought I would take the opportunity to post Jason’s beautiful contribution the Penguin Graphic Classics series that Paul art directed:

Thanks Ian. Re: Penguin 75: I’m hoping for some contributions from Christopher Brand who designed the book in the interview as well. Fingers crossed. :-)

  2. For some strange reasons, I think about Tintin au Pays des Soviets or the early versions of Tintin au Congo, when I see that. Nice work! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks David. There’s definitely something Herge-like about Jason, although it’s hard to pin-point exactly what it is beyond the “ligne claire” style. Maybe it is the kind face-value naivety that belies the actual intelligence of the strips… ?
