  1. There is a whole strand of liberalism which says that standards and back-compatibility with standards are a prerequisite of a well-functioning market… Programmed obsolescence is just one way that supply is hijacking part of the surplus of consumer!

    What with the rise of the digital books, this is certainly an important topic!
